What is DOM?

Introduction

The Document Object Model (DOM) is a programming interface for HTML and XML documents. It represents the structure of a document as a tree of objects, with each object representing a part of the document, such as an element, an attribute, or a piece of text.
DOM is a tree data structure.

The DOM represents the structure of a document as a tree-like data structure, with each element, attribute, and piece of text represented as an object in the tree. This tree-like structure is called the DOM tree, and it allows developers to easily navigate and manipulate the different parts of the document.
The root of the tree is the document object, and each element in the document is represented as a node in the tree.

A website consists of an HTML and CSS document at the most basic level. The browser creates a representation of the document known as the Document Object Model (DOM). DOM document enables JS to access and manipulate the elements and styles of a website.

DOM can be represented using any programming language since it’s just a data structure. But we usually think of it in JavaScript because JavaScript is the programming language of web browsers.
